Perez Chapel International has declared a one-week fasting and prayer session for all members following an invitation to founder Archbishop Charles Agyinasare by the traditional rulers of Nogokpo, a town in the Volta Region of Ghana.

Opinion leader Nufialaga Mawufemor Korbla Nonyigbey on Friday, June 2 accused Archbishop Agyinasare of showing no remorse in his second sermon after describing the town as the headquarters of demons in the Volta Region.

The man of God had apparently apologised to the chiefs and people of Nogokpo after they raised concerns about his reference to the town, insisting that he did not intend “to denigrate any of the towns and their people but to elucidate the principle of divine protection to congregants”.

“Any misrepresentation or misinformation that has characterised the subsequent commentary and reportage is regretted,” he said on Sunday, May 28.

“My Ministry over the past 40 years has been one that has spoken up at critical times in our Nation as a spiritual gatekeeper and I remain committed to serving God’s people and our Nation as the spirit directs.”

But Archbishop Agyinasare was summoned to appear before the traditional council within 14 days during the press interaction by Nufialaga Mawufemor Korbla Nonyigbey.

On Sunday, June 4, Presiding Bishop of the church Rt. Rev. Ohene Benjamin Aboagye announced the fasting and prayers to start Monday, June 5.

It is scheduled to end on Sunday, June 11.
