People’s Pension Trust Ghana Limited picked up two awards at the 2nd edition of the Ghana Accountancy and Finance Awards (GAF Awards) which took place in Accra last Friday, November 9. The company won “Best Corporate Trustee-Informal Sector” and “Best Corporate Trustee-Education and Sensitization” categories, beating competition from several industry veterans. Speaking on the awards, Chief Executive Officer of People’s Pension Trust, Samuel Waterberg said the awards will further encourage the company to do more for its clients as they plan for their pension. “It is significant that we have received these two awards as the company aims to be recognized as the organization that successfully reduces old-age poverty by providing 500,000 Ghanaians, particularly, informal sector workers with a pension cover in the next five years.” He added that the award will spur the company on to innovate and develop its processes to increase accessibility and ensure the safety and security of funds. Mr. Waterberg thanked clients for believing in themselves enough to sign onto the scheme thus ensuring they have an enjoyable retirement. He further urged the company’s clients to be consistent in their savings as well as be worthy ambassadors of the brand by encouraging people in their network to also get on board. The company had earlier been adjudged the Pension Company of the Year at the Ghana Business Awards held a few weeks prior to the GAF Awards. This therefore brings to three the total awards picked up so far by the company since its entry onto the Ghanaian pension landscape two years ago. The company provides trustee services under both Tier 2 and 3 schemes and is focused on offering flexible and innovative pension products for both formal and informal sector workers in the country.
