One may be permitted to describe Akoma FM’s health walk as a crowd puller and fascinating as thousands joined to promote their physical and inward fitness.

From the Kumasi City Mall through the major streets in the metropolis was one of the biggest outdoor programmes for a single event

The three-hour exercise, which started at about 5:30am, brought together Chief of Asokwa Nana Fe Boama II, political figures, personnel from the military and police, faith-based organisations, various wellness and fitness groups.

The Saturday, January 22 event marked Akoma FM‘s second health walk after the maiden edition in 2020.

In partnership with Zet Mineral Water, Zahara Herbal Mixture, St. Ben Jewellery and Impresser Capsules, the health walk afforded platform for old friends to meet and catch up while exercising.

Specifically, the walk started with a warm-up session from the Kolomashie group for almost an hour after which the actual steps began from the forecourt of Akoma FM through the principal streets of Kumasi, notably, Asokwa Interchange to Ahodwo roundabout through to Adum and Asafo interchange to Citystyle building and back to the Mall.

Some personalities who stole the show included an 85-year-old man identified as Kwaku Boakye Yiadom from Antoa in the Afigya Kwabre East district. He joined the action with vigour and passion.

Some persons with disabilities who thronged to join the health walk on their various wheel chairs were an icing on the cake.

After the long walk, the multitude converged at the Kumasi City Mall for the aerobic session to burn belly fats and other unwanted deposits in the body.

Patrons who spoke with Akoma FM expressed gratitude to the organisers and sponsors of the event for such a health programme.

“We want Akoma FM to come up with such health walk at least every quarter to boost our fitness level and promote well-being because most of us work from eight to five so hardly do we get time to exercise. So this is a big chance for some of us to keep our body in shape and our hearts active.”
