In a turn of events, an online investment platform known as Pacminer allegedly defrauded nearly 800,000 Ghanaian investors, leaving many Ghanaians with substantial financial losses.
The company, which offered cloud computing capacity for mining digital currencies, abruptly ceased operations between December 26 and 27, 2023.
Pacminer attracted investors with the promise of profits through purchasing and activating mining machines for cryptocurrencies. However, recent revelations expose the company’s modus operandi as deceptive, with claims of funds being utilised for mining operations proving to be nothing more than a facade.
Investors, now facing significant financial setbacks, have encountered difficulties in withdrawing both their initial investments and any potential earnings as the leaders of this scheme are yet to be found and have dissolved their digital footprints.
According to victims of this scheme, the situation got worse as the Pacminer’s principal administrators and the official WhatsApp groups, both of which have maintained silence since the early hours of December 26, 2023.

According to a victim of this scheme, Eselase Bali-Banini, who only got wind of Pacminer in the third week of December and invested 1,700 cedis, expressed regret over the decision. He mentioned that his brother had introduced him to the platform.
In his words, “People are trying to find a way to get their money back and are seeking justice, but from the look of things, I don’t think it’s going to work.”
Another victim of the scheme Sarah Mensah said, “I used my NSS savings for this scheme, and I won’t let it go. This is the second time I’ve been scammed, and I’m taking it up with the police. I didn’t want to invest at first, but I was convinced by their philanthropic work, and this agent kept pestering me about it, so I invested.”
In the wake of the Pacminer controversy, individuals directly affected by the alleged fraud have turned to X to vent their frustrations and share their experiences.
It’s worth noting that Pacminer has stayed silent, not addressing the claims made against them. Adding to the ongoing controversy, there are rumours that they’ve registered their business in Cameroon.
This move has stirred more questions and concerns among those affected. As of now, Pacminer remains tight-lipped, leaving many still searching for answers and hoping for a resolution.
