Founder and President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh has urged politicians in the country to do away with the culture of insults in executing their responsibilities as politicians.
Speaking in an interview with Berla Mundi, Dr. Tetteh called for unity among politicians belonging to different parties while noting that politics is not meant to undermine people’s reputation and create violence.
He said it is “foolishness” for adults to be engaged in a politics of insults.
“The politics we do in Ghana is an immature politics where people think that the culture of insults is what makes you a good politician. And I think that people need to get that politics is not war, politics is not violence, politics is that we should agree and disagree but not forget the fact that we have only one Ghana and must have a common agenda,” he said on The Day Show on Sunday, March 31.
Dr. Tetteh noted that resorting to insults to disagree with members of opposition parties is not the right way to go.
“There are ways to resolve issues, two mistakes do not make right. Speaking your mind does not mean insulting people. I do not see the wisdom in insulting President Akufo-Addo and Mahama. Yes, you might not agree with them but there is an attitude we have and it is that we lose sight of the fact that whatever we do now is a sin,” he stated.

“I will admonish young women and men, wisen up and don’t be used,” he advised.
“Speak your mind, have your opinion, have a positive criticism but this culture of insults, I condemn it in all certainty,” he added.
He explained that the media, religious bodies and all other stakeholders must condemn the politics of insults as it is affecting our political development.
