The Ghana Police Service says it will continue to operate its emergency numbers despite the new unified emergency number announced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The president on Tuesday, January 28 announced 112 as the new number for emergency services for the police, fire service and the ambulance service. “In the past, the [Ghana] Police Service, the [Ghana National] Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service all had different emergency numbers,” President Akufo-Addo told a gathering at the Black Star Square. “I’m happy to announce that thankfully, we’ve merged all the emergency numbers to one number which is 112.” But the Police Service already has 191 and 18555 as its emergency numbers. “The public should note that the police emergency numbers 191 and 18555 are currently running alongside the unified national emergency number 112,” it said in a Facebook post. “Whenever there is a full migration unto the unified national emergency number 112, the Police Administration will duly bring it to the attention of the general public.” By Emmanuel Kwame Amoh|3news.com|Ghana ]]>
