One week observance of Mrs. Theresa Kufuor’s demise slated for October 11

The Office of former President J.A. Kufuor has announced Wednesday October 11, 2023 as the date for one week observance of the passing of Mrs. Theresa Kufuor.

A statement dated October 6, 2023 said the event will be held at the Peduase residence of the former President from morning to evening.

“In view of this, we will appreciate that all well-wishers who intedn to pay a visit to the family to offer their condolences and commiserate with them, to do so by Monday 9th October, so that the premises could be prepared on Tuesday for the following day’s activities,” the statement explained.

“Äll are cordially invited,” it added.

Mrs Kufuor, nee Mensah, passed away on Sunday, October 1.

She served as the First Lady of Ghana from January 7, 2001 to January 6, 2009.

She assumed the role after her husband, John Agyekum Kufuor, succeeded Jerry John Rawlings as the President of the Republic of Ghana.

While serving as First Lady, Madam Theresa set up the Mother to Child Community Development Foundation to help in the proper development of children and prevent mother-to-child transmission of diseases.

She was 88.
