Founder and leader of the emerging third political force, New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar or Freedom Justice Caesar, has detailed how he came into contact with repatriated Belgian National, Shalimar Abbiusi.

Prior to her arrest and subsequent extradition, Shalimar served as the spokesperson for the New Force Movement; seen in various social media posts outlining the activities of the new movement by the business magnate.

She was arrested and charged with acquiring a student residence permit using false declaration by the Ghana Immigration Service, a claim which has been challenged by her lawyers.

The 30-year-old was rearrested shortly after the Kaneshie District Court dropped charges against her and repatriated barely a day later.

Quite apart from the New Force Movement leader being absent during her tussle with the law, there was a lot of furor about why an apparent non-Ghanaian was involved in the country’s politics.

But speaking on TV3 NewDay on Thursday morning, Nana Kwame Bediako explained that he resorted to working with her as spokesperson in his political journey because no Ghanaian was willing.

“In the beginning of the New Force with the mask and everything, we had been speaking to several people to take various roles. We tried so many people to be the spokesperson, but they were all scared. We were struggling.

“Shalimar was a girl that had been in the country for over three years. She had already worked as a presenter for GHOne and model before I met her. I only met her at Mepe when we went to do the donation there. I met her through Hon Ablakwa (North Tongu MP). We started talking after, so she asked what she can do after she heard about what we’re doing,” he told Alfred Ocansey in an exclusive interview.

He made a public appeal to the populace to join his movement, noting that his doors are always open.
