The National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, is in the United Kingdom to witness Thursday’s parliamentary elections, a spokesperson of the party has told TV3.

Mr Afoko is expected to return immediately after the elections, the spokesperson added.

Nana Akomea, the Director of Communications, indicated further on TV3’s Midday Live on Tuesday, May 5 that in the absence of Mr Afoko, the 1st Vice Chairman of the party acts.

This is in consonance with the constitution of the NPP, he observed.

The UK polls will see the election of the 56th Parliament after the dissolution of the previous parliament on March 30.

Prime Minister David Cameron leads the Conservative Party while arch-rivals Labour are led by Ed Miliband.

Nick Clegg also leads the Liberal Democrats with nine other parties also contesting.
