NPP to hold primaries on June 21 for Talensi by-election

The opposition New Patriotic Party  has set June 21, to elect a candidate for the Talensi by-election expected to take place on July 7, 2015.

The by-election became necessary after the former NPP legislator, Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore was enskinned a Paramount Chief in the Tolon tradition area in the Upper East Region.

The chief in accordance with the constitutional provision that bars chiefs from participating in politics, officially resigned his position to concentrate fully on his traditional role.

With the vacancy created, the jostling has already commenced by interested persons to fill the vacuum.

The incumbent National Democratic Congress, NDC, has strangely set the same date of June 21 to hold its  primaries.

The Electoral Commission says it will take nominations for the by-election on Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday June 24th 2015, at the district office of the Commission at Tongo from 9.00am to 12.00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

Nomination forms may be obtained from the district office of the Commission or at the Regional Office in Bolgatanga.

The filing fee for the election is GH¢1000.00.
