The leading opposition party, New Patriotic Party (NPP), has extended its congratulations to newly elected flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet.
Mr Greenstreet emerged victorious in the presidential primary of the leading Nkrumahist party held at the International Trade Fair Center on Saturday.
“Mr Greenstreet has over the years contributed at various levels to the cause of promoting multi-party democracy in Ghana,” a statement from the NPP said on Sunday, January 31.
“We are hopeful that his election will continue to enrich Ghana’s politics with ideas and values that will improve the fortunes of the average Ghanaian,” the statement signed by Acting General Secretary John Boadu added.
It further extended congratulations to the entire cockerel community “on a successful congress in Accra”.
Over 2,600 delegates took part in the congress.
