NPA boss advises public on safety measures during festive season

The National Petroleum Authority is cautioning members of the general public to pay attention to safety precautions in handling petroleum products most especially LPG during the festive period. This comes on the back of a number of explosions involving petroleum products in some fuel stations and domestic accidents in different parts of the country. The Chief Executive of the NPA, Alhassan Tampuli in a short Christmas message was concerned about safety issues arising out of the mishandling of the products. According to him, there is the need to understand what is being done wrong when handling petroleum products in order to enable consumers curb the incidents of petroleum-related accidents. “The issue of safety has been high on the agenda of the Authority and at every turn, our safety inspectors continue to educate consumers on the responsible and efficient use of petroleum products without endangering their lives,” he said. He emphasized the need for consumers to refrain from placing stones on leaking LPG cylinders to avoid any accident.
