New Tema Police Commander to fight armed robbery head-on

DCOP George Tuffuor[/caption] The new Police Commander for the Tema Region, DCOP George Tuffuor, is promising to bring the armed robbery menace in the region under control through the adoption of stringent security measures. DCOP Tuffuor is seeking to achieve this feat with the help of the public, noting that modern day policing require an all hands on deck approach in order to fight crime. A statement signed and issued by the public relations officer of the Tema Police, Juliana Obeng, said the new commander would reinforce the measures put in place by his predecessors, noting that where necessary, some of these measures would be amended. “In consultation with partners and stakeholders within the Region, he (the Commander) will also roll in new security models, which will complement the existing ones,” the statement said. DCOP Tuffuor was appointed to his current position after there was massive reshuffle within the Police Administration. He was with the Education Unit of the Service at the National Police Training School. Other positions also held by him includes, Regional Commander, Northern Region from May 2011 to April 2013 where he superintended over the maintenance of peace in Yendi, Buipe and other parts of the Region. He served as the Deputy Regional Commander for the Upper East Region from 2009 to 2010. He was also the Divisional Commander for Tesano until 2009 when he was transferred to the Upper East Region. The Regional Commander holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Finance from University of Ghana, Legon and he is a member of the Institute of Chartere Accountants (ICA).
