The Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah, says the emerging security challenges in the Eastern Region can be reduced to the barest minimum if visibility is enhanced.

He pointed out several areas still lack administrative offices for personnel.

The Regional Police Commander was addressing a durbar to commission a new police station at Akuse in the Eastern Region.

DCOP Twumasi-Ankrah pointed out policing in the Akuse District and, by extension, Akosombo Division comes with a myriad of challenges which need more established facilities.

He commended the Maleka Fish Farms for their intervention to the Ghana Police Service at Akuse.

“Across the world over, citizens have supported government’s efforts in policing. We always seek for assistance from MMDCEs, philanthropists and NGOs. The Akuse and Akosombo area is very wide. We will need more administration and residential facilities.”

The new edifice replaced a dilapidated one built 100 years ago.

Maleka Farms CEO Roger Abou Jaoude pledged commitment to contribute to the development of the area.

“Government and police alone cannot provide infrastructure for the police. It is for this reason the company has built this police station to contribute to the development in enhancing security.”

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Chief Executive, Simon Kweku Tetteh, encouraged investors to do business in the area.

“I wish to thank Maleka Farms for putting up this police station. They have also provided jobs and improved the local economy as well. All investors are welcome to our Municipality to do business, we have the best environment to make business thrive.”
