Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has said that there is no way Ghanaians should experience a John Mahama economy again.

For him, the achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration in growing the economy cannot be compared to by those of the Mahama administration.

For example, he said, along the coastal belt, the Akufo-Addo administration has built twelve landing beach sites including Dixcove, Keta, and Effutu Winneba.

Contributing to a debate on the 2024 budget in Parliament on Wednesday, November 22, the Effutu Member of Parliament said “Never again to Mahama-Ato Forson-Seth Terkper economy.”

Afenyo-Markin further described the Akufo-Addo administration as a caring government.

He said despite the economic challenges facing Ghanaians, all state institutions are being supported financially to also resource the agencies under them.

“All institutions of state are getting their support to run their departments and agencies,” he said.

He added, “This is a caring government that has walked the talk.”

Touching on the banking sector cleanup, he said the government took the decision to save the lives of Ghanaians and also to keep them in their jobs.

But for the cleanup exercise in the financial sector, he said, more Ghanaians would have lost their lives and jobs.

“Over GHC25billion to support the banking sector. Some lost their lives but the decision of government kept more Ghanaians at their jobs than they would have lost their lives if NDC were in office,” Mr Afenyo-Markin said.
