The suit was filed after the EC rejected the nomination forms of Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, the Party’s flagbearer.
Counsel for NDP Stanley Ahorlu accused the EC of not adhering to its own regulations in rejecting Nana Konadu’s nominations, citing an incident in 2008 when the EC granted a presidential aspirant two additional days to resolve his tax clearance issues.
Lawyer Ahorlu filed an amended application for judicial review which seeks to question the EC’s decision to set aside only two days for filing of nominations.
The Party sought an order that will compel the EC to allow its flagbearer contest the December 7 Elections.
It further prayed the court to declare the Electoral Commission’s act in rejecting the Party’s presidential nomination forms as unlawful and inconsistent with the electoral law.
Justice Kofi Essel Mensah adjourned the case to November 30, 2012 – exactly a week before the elections – for a final verdict to be passed.

The National Democratic Party (NDP) will know if its flagbearer will contest the presidential elections or not on Friday, November 30, 2012, when an Accra Human Rights Court gives its judgment on a suit filed by the party against the Electoral Commission (EC).
