Her party lost a case filed against the Electoral Commission for rejecting Nana Konadu’s nomination forms on October 19, 2012.
An Accra Human Rights Court on Friday, November 30, 2012 dismissed NDP’s application to force the EC to include Nana Konadu’s name in the presidential roll of the 2012 elections.
A docket signed by Supreme Court judge Justice Kofi Essel Mensah reads:
“It is demonstrably clear that the applicants have failed to put forward a strong case to obtain a favourable verdict. I cannot do otherwise than to dismiss their application. The application is accordingly dismissed.”
The verdict will have little effect on Nana Konadu Rawlings after she had announced, a week earlier, that she has no interest to follow up the case in court.
She has since been on some platforms to ask electorates to vote against the ruling National Democratic Congress, a party founded by her husband Former President John Rawlings.
Meanwhile, NDP is reported to have directed its campaign feverishly to the parliamentary elections, in which it is confident of winning more than 20 seats.
