The campaign team of former Greater Accra Region Minister Professor Joshua Alabi has picked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential nomination forms for him. The team led by a former Ayawaso West Wuogon Member of Parliament, Ken Dzirasah, issued a cheque for GH¢20,000 for the forms, at the party’s headquarter in Adabraka, Accra. The cheque was received by the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, in the presence of some party supporters on Tuesday. Aside the forms, the team also got a copy of NDC’s constitution and a book containing the guidelines on the conduct of the January 19 primary. The nomination forms are in triplicate and, according to Mr Asiedu Nketia, they are to “expedite the process of completion”. He said during filing, two copies will be kept by the party while the third will be given to the aspirant. ‘It is unethical’ In his remarks, Mr Dzirasah asked the party’s General Secretary, who serves as its Chief Executive Officer, to call executives who openly declare support for some candidates to order. This he claims is being done at both the regional and national levels. “It is unethical,” he said, “because this is a contest and the referee is the National Executive Committee and the Regional Executive Committee.” He said it is when executives are neutral that a “neat” and “clean” process of electioneering will be witnessed “so that whoever is endorsed as a candidate will be entering the race with the NPP as a candidate of choice not a candidate of circumstances.” The team for the first Vice Chancellor for the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) also had as part Member of Parliament for Keta Constituency Richard Mawuli Quashigah and legal practitioner Victor Kojogah Adawudu as well as former La Dadekotopon MP Nii Amasah Namoale.
