The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding the outright dismissal of the suspended Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei who is accused of corruption and conflict of interest. Speaking on behalf of the NDC at its Moment of Truth’ series, National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the PPA boss who is currently under investigations. Mr Boateng Adjei was suspended following an investigative documentary by Manasseh Azure Awuni, which revealed a company he co-owned has been selling government contracts it won through single source and restricted tendering to the highest bidder. President Akufo-Addo also directed CHRAJ and the Office of the Special Prosecutor to investigate his appointee of corruption and conflict of interest. The suspended CEO is expected to report to the Acting Head of investigation at the Office of the Special Prosecutor on Thursday, August 29 with relevant information and documents to assist in investigations. Some civil society organisations have asked the president to dissolve the Board of the PPA. But the PPA Board last week issued a statement to absolve itself of any complicity in the quagmire, indicating they do not influence tender processes conducted in accordance with Act 663. Notwithstanding, the opposition NDC believes the continuous stay in office of the board is an indication President Akufo-Addo is not committed to the fight against corruption. “We ask why the governing board of the PPA, an accomplice in this grand collusion is still in place. It is important to state that the suspension of the CEO of the PPA, Mr. AB Adjei is totally useless and meaningless unless it is linked to the immediate dissolution of the PPA Board.” Sammy Gyamfi said the conduct of Mr. Adjei is a reflection of the current administration. “Under the almost three year tenure of President Akufo-Addo, it’s been one stinking corruption scandal after the other with no end in sight. Today the NPP’s famous campaign rhetoric of 1D1F has now metamorphosed into 1Day, 1Fraud thereby; creating a traffic jam of corruption cases in the minds of Ghanaians.” By 3news.com|Ghana]]>
