An Economist, Dr Adu Owusu Sarkodie has called for a complete support for the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in the fight against corruption.

The lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School asked the National Security and the media to support the OSP in doing so.

Speaking on the Ghana Tonight show on TV3 with Alfred Ocansey on Monday August 23, he indicated that the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng “is doing something good, he should be resourced.”

“He alone cannot do the work, everybody should come on board, National Security, media everybody should come on board so that those who are under-declaring will be caught and be prosecuted,” Dr Sarkodie added.

The OSP has announced that it has commenced investigations in suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of auctions of vehicles and other goods by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) between 1st July 2016 and 15th August 2022.

This was announced in a statement on Monday, August 22.

“The Special Prosecutor further directed the Commissioner of the Customs Division to immediately halt and discontinue all auction sales till the investigation is concluded,” the statement said.
