President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said his thoughts and the thoughts of all Ghanaians, at home and abroad, are with Queen Elizabeth II who is is under medical supervision after doctors became concerned for her health,

In a tweet on Thursday September 8, Mr Akufo-Addo said “My thoughts and the thoughts of all Ghanaians, at home and abroad, are with Queen Elizabeth II, the British Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth, the organization of which Ghana is a proud member, and her family in these difficult moments. I wish her the best and God’s blessings.”

All the Queen’s children have gathered at her Scottish estate near Aberdeen.

“Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” a statement said.

The Queen is “comfortable”, it added.

It is very unusual for Buckingham Palace to put out a statement like this – it is usually unwilling to provide a commentary on the 96-year-old monarch’s medical matters, which are seen as private.

Her son, Prince Charles, is at Balmoral with his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
