The suspected murderer of the Abuakwa North Member of Parliament, Daniel Asiedu, is not and has not been a beneficiary of the Justice For All Programme, according to POS Foundation, the lead advocates of the programme.

A statement released by the Foundation on Monday, February 15 debunked all media reports that Daniel Asiedu, 20, was released from Ankaful Prisons as a result of the programme.

The suspect was nabbed by the police last Thursday, two days after the death of Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu. He was noticed as an ex-convict.

“Upon checks from all the applications filed on behalf of remand prisoners over the years with the JFAP, the name Daniel Asiedu could not be found,” the statement signed by Jonathan Osei Owusu, the Executive Director of POS Foundation, said.

“Further checks from Ankaful Prisons and the Greater Accra Police Command could also not confirm the said suspect being a beneficiary of the JFAP but rather an ex-convict.”

Mr Osei Owusu by the statement appealed to the public particularly the police “not to put out misinformation that has the potential to tarnish the image of the programme”.
