President John Dramani Mahama Thursday morning led a pack of moving tributes to presidential correspondent Samuel Nuamah, as the remains of the late Ghanaian Times journalist was laid to rest at the Osu Cemetery in Accra.

His family, friends and government officials including some members of the Council of State, joined the media fraternity to mourn the late journalist who is widely remembered for his humility and dedication to service.

The 37-year old senior reporter met his untimely death when one of the presidential press corps buses traveling in a convoy was involved in a fatal accident on August 20 at Dorwonyu in the Greater Accra Region.

Mr. Nuamah who left behind a wife and a two-year-old son, died on the spot .

Moving tributes

“It was a traumatising Thursday, and as I picked up the regular reports of the recovery process at the accident scene, death was not what came to mind...

A very quite young man on the outside, but his name, Samuel Nuamah, and personality was easily recognisable. Why? I don’t know” – President John Dramani Mahama

“….When I was saying ‘Till death do us part’, I thought it was going to be 50 or 60 years later but never knew it was going to be three years later.

We had a nice family time on phone the previous day but I had not the faintest idea it was the last family time we were having. Even though we were distant, we were much closer and worked marriage our marriage out as though we lived together” – Mrs. Lilian Nuamah, Wife

“Now I can see everybody crying, tears falling from every face…but you are not one of them. Are they crying for you Daddy? If they are, why? Can someone explain where dad is?

Daddy, where are you going that you did not say a word to your baby before you left? I promise to be good and take care of mummy. I will carry on the good name and legacy you have left behind” – Josiah Nyira Nuamah, 2-year old Son
