All is set for the first Media General Start-up Fair and Funding Summit in the Ashanti Region capital, Kumasi. The Fair, the second of its kind after a successful first edition in Accra, will see over 75 start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) exhibit their products and services, make sales and network for future benefits. As was the case last year in Accra, where the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) and the Venture Capital Trust Fund selected some start-ups and supported them in various ways, the exhibitors in Kumasi will enjoy bigger and better packages. Speaking ahead of the event, Acting Head of the Business Desk at Media General Alfred Ocansey, who is also the lead coordinator, observed the event is purposefully couched to address the needs of start-ups. “After hosting start-ups for free on television over the last five years to talk about their businesses, we at Media General realised that two of the biggest problems facing start-ups in Ghana are funding and exposure. This fair addresses both.” He explained there is a juicy package for people who subscribe to the event at the Kumasi Mall car park. “We are giving all exhibitors free interviews on TV3, 3FM, Onua and Akoma FM. On the funding side, an angel investor, Quick Angels, will be at the fair to identify businesses they can support to expand. So, for us, we believe the start-ups of today, are the big businesses of tomorrow ,” he said. The fair begins on Friday, May 17 and ends on Sunday, May 19. Members of the general public are invited to enjoy free health screening and make-up plus massive discounts on all products on display. Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
