MASLOC commends Media General for Start-Up Fair & Funding Summit

Media General Group, the owners and operators of TV3, 3FM, Onua FM, Connect FM, 3news.com and Adesa Productions Limited (APL), have been commended by the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) for helping to promote and encourage small enterprises. The Group are hosting a two-day Start-up Fair and Funding Summit at the Aviation Social Center in Accra, staring Friday. The event had over 50 businesses participating as at the official opening. The participating businesses have been given a platform to exhibit their products and services, establish strategic networks, as well as sell their products. Participants will also get an opportunity to access information on business financing during the summit leg of the event which is slated for Saturday. Speaking at the opening ceremony, an executive at the MASLOC secretariat, George Ware, said Media General deserve a pat on the back for pooling resources and ideas together for the event. He said the government is committed to supporting small businesses grow, noting MASLOC was first established under former President John Kufuor for that purpose. He added the 2019 budget, which the Finance Minister presented to Parliament on Thursday, November 15, had a significant allocation for MASLOC to be better placed to continue to support small enterprises. Mr Ware urged participants to be ethical in their dealings to make them successful. He also encouraged them to strive to be competitive in the market. Day One of the event is dedicated to exhibition and selling while Saturday will have successful entrepreneurs and relevant industry players speak to give participating businesses the opportunity to be picked and funded.
