“We are not worried about internal contests,” the likely running mate of President Mahama said on Thursday.
He made this known after picking nomination forms on behalf the president at the party’s headquarters in Accra.
A Youth Organiser at the Oyarifa branch of the party last Monday picked forms ahead of the leader to challenge him for the flagbearership slot.
George Boateng paid GH¢51,000 for the forms.
But his gesture has become a major subject of a cursory investigation which has seen the staff who issued the forms out to him sacked.
Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur said Mr Mahama concedes that some members of the party harbour ambitions to become presidential candidates.
“He does not begrudge them that ambition,” Mr Amissah-Arthur said.
He said Mr Mahama expects a successful contest on November 7 that will see him successfully contest the 2016 elections.
“We are confident that the people of this country will renew his mandate.”
