Mahama meets former MMDCEs as he talks up his record

Mahama (R) met Minority in Parliament in 2017 [/caption] Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged his appointee metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCEs) not to be cowed into accepting his government did not perform well. “We must be proud of our achievement in government.” The former president met the former MMDCEs at a conference over the weekend. He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government he led between 2013 and 2017 was faced with “much difficulties”. He said the election petition, which dragged on for eight months, had its own toll on his government. Former President Mahama, who is expected to make his political future known soon, said the power crisis, which he inherited from previous governments also had its own toll. “But in all that difficulties, we were able to prove that NDC is party that anytime it governs, it brings progress and development to our people.” He said the economy was substantially stabilized while there was “very strong infrastructural development projects”. The two-time leader of the NDC said his government even saw the “single biggest expansion of secondary education” in Ghana. “So, it is a record that we can be proud of,” he touted. “Let nobody ever make you ashamed about our record in government,” he charged.
