  • 9:00pm – Outspoken lawyer and a member of the NDC Communication team,  Abraham Amaliba, failed to get the NDC parliamentary candidature in the Bolga Central.  Per provisional results, Abraham Amalba secured 3,052, Opam Brown 2,956, Isaac Adongo 4, 219 and George Gamson 906
  • 8:55pm – The sitting MP for Lower West Akyeam Constituency Joseph Amankwanor has survived a contest from DCE Derick Assiful with 4,047 votes as against Assiful’s 3,627. The results are provisional

  • 8:48pm – Majority leader Alban Bagbin has won the Nadowli Kaleo Constituency parliamentary candidature of the NDC with 3,237, Rojah Galee 1,696 and Salifu Dumba 1,090, provisional results have shown
  • 8:47pm – In the Builsa North Constituency, Agalga James  polled 3,632 as against Timothy Adabadey’s  930
  • 8:42pm – Mahama Ayariga secured 8,249 votes to win the Bawku Central constituency as against Abdulaih Musah’s 2,210 and Alhaji Ibrahim Amadu Doori’s 563
  • 8:32pm  – Cletus Avoka has polled 3,973 votes to win the Zebilla Constituency candidature, provisional results show. Simon Ayande had 2,176, Moro Anaba 1,003 and Ebenezer Ndebilla 1,706

  • 8:14pm – At the NEW JUABEN SOUTH Constituency, Ransford Owusu Boakye polled 1,698  [66.10%], Kwabena Okyere Kusi 335 [13.03%] and Emmanuel Bedjaben 502 [19.54%]
  • 7:59pm – In the Ablekuma South Constituency, provisional results shows Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije as the winner with 3,298 votes as against Wisdom  Nii Amoo  Dodoo’s 1,259
  • 7:52pm – Daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Zanetor Rawlings, has beaten stiff competiton from Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Armah Ashietey to clinch the Klottey Korle Constituency candidature of the NDC. She polled 2,549 votes as against Mr Ashietey’s 1,578 and John Coleman’s 100 votes. The results are provisional
  • 7:45pm – Provisional Results from Assin Central = Dr. Kofi Blankson – 1,891 as against Hon Alex Antwi Boasiako’s – 1,480
  • 7:43pm – Certified results from Dome Kwabenya Constituency suggest a win for Nurudeen Mohammed who polled 1,210 as against Isaac Adama’s  576. A total of 1,807 delegates voted.
  • 7:38pm – The DCE for Awutu Senya, Adam Nuhu, has polled 1,633 [60%] votes  to lead the party at the Awutu Senya East constituency in the 2016 elections. Provisional results shows REV. PAUL QUANSAH  securing 288(10.7%), DANIEL  AWER 282(10.5%), LAWYER KANGA 194(7.2%), and ROBERT AMISSAH 277(10.3)
  • 7:34pm – TV personality, Eric Don-Arthur has won the Efutu Constituency having polled  1,694, provisional figures from all the 14 polling stations has revealed. His contender, Ambrose Enstiwah secured 1,262 of the votes cast
  • 7:25pm – Lawyer Francis Xavier has left the collation centre at Madina looking let down as provisional results puts his main contender, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho, in the lead.
  • 7:04pm – Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh is likely to be declared winner in the  Awutu Senya West Constituency for garnering 4129 [97.55%] as shown by provisional results.  Her contender, Paapa Asuako Owiredu  polled 101 votes [2.45%]
  • 6:55pm – Provisional results from Gomoa West Constituency shows the Public Affairs Officer of the VRA, Kwesi Fletcher,  has wrestled the seat from the incumbent MP, Francis Kojo Arthur. Results from the 34 polling stations puts Fletcher at 4, 494 and Arthur  1, 284 votes.
  • 6:50pm – There is black out atthe Tema collation centre as EC officials await the arrival of ballot boxes and from Tema East, West, Central and Kpone
  • 6:06pm – Police riot control vehicle has been positioned at the Osu Blagodo Gardens in the Korle Klottey Constituency where counting is on-going. The centre has been described as a flash point.
  • 5:43pm – Collation of election results will continue after 6:00pm in Bimbilla in the Northern Region in spite of the curfew in the area, Graphic Online reports. Bimbilla is under a 6-to-6 curfew following recent violence in the area that claimed some lives. The District Chief Executive, Alhaji Mohammed Ibn Abass said the party had made arrangements with the security personnel to provide security for all the people who would be involved in the counting of the ballots after the elections
  • 5:40pm – Voting has been extended at Maamobi Market polling station in the Ayawaso North Constituency where polls started at 11:00am.Military personnel have been deployed there due to tension as the delegates, according to our correspondent, suspect the incumbent, Dr. Mustapha Amid, might rig the elections.
  • 5:17pm – Supporters of Wisdom Nii Amoo Dodooo, Oko Vanderpuije’s contender, are  threatening  commotion at the Ablekuma South Constituency if the  outcome of the election does  not  go in favour of their  candidate. There is heavy security  presence and the police  have called in  for  reinforcement.


5:09pm – Counting of ballots have started in some polling stations across the country

  • 5:02pm – Polls in most polling centres at the various constituencies across the country are expected to end, with few areas where voting started late due to late arrival of electoral materials, to continue.
  • 4:17pm – With less than an hour to end polls in the National Democratic Congress primaries, executives at the Atebubu-Amantin Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region are likely to postpone the elections due to low voter turnout. The low turnout has been the results of an invocation of the ‘antoa’ deity on the delegates by some aggrieved party members to scare the delegates from voting because their favourite candidate, Sampson Owusu Boateng, has been disqualified. A total of 200 out of 10,413 delegates in the constituency have cast their ballot as at 4:00PM; something the executives say is a disgrace to them.
  • 2:29pm – President John Dramani Mahama cast his vote in Bole Constituency in the Northern Region.
  • 1:57pm – Some people who are not delegates but showed up at the Well Road Methodist School polling centre in the Sekondi Constituency, have been turned away by polling officials. Numbering about 50, the people, including some old ladies, say they thought it was a General Election.

  • 1:21pm – One person has been arrested by a joint Police-Military team for attempting to bolt with a ballot box at the Nanton D/A Primary school in the Northern Region. The man was ridding on the back of a motor bike with another person who managed to escape.
  • 12:35pm – Voter apathy has characterised voting at the Atebubu-Amantin constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region where some supporters have invoked the ‘antoa’ deity to prevent the delegates from voting due to the disqualification of the DCE in the area,Sampson Owusu Boateng. As at 12:35, only 100 out of the 10,413 delegates have voted. Voting is expected to end at 3:00PM
  • 12:29pm – Lawyer Francis Xavier who is challenging the  incumbent MP for Madina, Amadu Sorogho, has downplayed the allegations that his name was inserted into the voters’ register just last night. Speaking to TV3, he described the claims as ‘fabrications by the incumbent to destroy his reputation’. That notwithstanding, he said if the polls go as planned, he will emerge as the next candidate for for the party in the Madina Constituency.
  • 12:24pm – Madina Member of Parliament Amadu Sorogho has alleged that a candidate’s name was inserted into the constituency voters’ register last night to the surprise of all but says he is unfazed, and upbeat about winning the NDC candidature in the constituency
  • 12:15pm – Voting period is to be extended in some constituencies where polls started late, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Director of Elections told TV3
  • 12:01pm – Voting has been called off at the Ahafo Ano North Constituency due to insufficient electoral materials sent to the area. A total of 9,300 delegates were expected to vote in the constituency but only 6,00 ballot papers were supplied the constituency
  • 11:42am – The name of one aspirant in Cape Coast Corth Consituency in the Central Region, Charles Kojo Walker, is missing from the voters’ register. He has thus been prevented from voting but officials of the NDC are currently trying to resolve the issue.
  • 11:40am – Tension  is brewing at Clementina polling centre in Ashaiman. Some delegates are angry they have been turned away by EC officials  with the excuse that they can’t verify their names on the register. Over 50 people have been affected and are threatening to disrupt the voting process. Police are currently at the venue.
  • 11:37am –  Vice President Paa Kwasi Amissah Arthur has voted at the Korle Klottey in the Greater Accra Region.
  • 11:27am – Voting just started at Atebubu-Amantin constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region due to a delay caused by late arrival of the electoral materials. Most delegates are afraid of their lives due to the invocation of the ‘Antoa’ deity on the delegates by some supporters who say they will only reverse the curse if the disqualified DCE for Atebubu-Amantin, Sampson Owusu Boateng,  is allowed to contest the sitting MP, Sanja Nanja, who is seeking a second term
  • 11:23am – Incumbent Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Alfred Agbesi, is unhappy about the conduct of constituency regional and some national executives for openly declaring their support for one of the candidate, Ernest Nogbey. He says the situation has made him ‘restless and helpless’
  • 11:17am – Zanetor Rawlings arrives at the Korle Klottey Constituency where she is contesting, to cast her ballot
  • 11:14am – An unknown group attacks and destroys electoral materials at the Suame MA JHS in the Ashanti Region destroying the ballot boxes
  • 11:02am – Delegates in the northern part of the Brong-Ahafo Region are yet to vote due to the late arrival of electoral materials
  • Voting in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency has been called off due to a disagreement arising out of claims that about 4,000 delegates’ names are missing from the register.
  • Voting has delayed in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency due to a shortfall of ballot papers. A total of 9,300 delegates are expected to vote in the constituency but only 6,00 ballot papers are currently in the constituency
  • EC officials and the contestants have resolved to print additional 3,566 and 4,566 ballot papers for the Presidential and Parliamentary primaries respectively.
  • Meanwhile the EC is to distribute the  available ballots to the hinterlands in the constituency while they make arrangements to print more.
  • EC officials say if they are able to distribute the ballots before 12:00, the elections will go ahead but indicated it will be called off it they are not able to   beat the time
