The 10-day voter registration exercise by the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) is scheduled to resume at different centers on Wednesday, May 4.

It is the second phase of the nationwide exercise which began on Thursday, April 28.

The second phase will end on Sunday, May 8.

The exercise has been characterized by violence at some centers with the two major political parties – the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) – heavily involved.

The exercise is meant to update the voter registration ahead of the 2016 elections with a targeted 1,200,000 potential voters expected to be added.

An exhibition of the register is scheduled for next month to complete the update.

The resumption will see electoral officers stationed at different centers – from the first phase – within each of the 275 constituencies.
