Hajia Fati, an NPP member[/caption] Suspended Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahene, has interceded on behalf of Hajia Fati, a member of the party who allegedly assaulted a journalist, asking for forgiveness. Speaking to Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah on 3FM , Mr. Obiri Boahene described Hajia Fati as being a very good and responsible woman who must have acted out of anger. He admitted Hajia’s conduct was  “unfortunate” and asked all aggrieved groups  including the Ghana Journalists Association and the Media Foundation for West Africa should “let sleeping dogs lie”. “She’s a very good person, Hajia is very good, open-handed, affable, accommodating, responsible, respectful, hard working, committed, dedicated, everything. So I believe that as a human, on the spur of the moment from the house she got angry and did that”, he said. “I’m saying the whole world should accept our unqualified apology”, he pleaded. Hajia Fati reportedly assaulted a  journalist with the Multimedia Group, Ohemaa Sakyiwaa Awehenepa who works as a newscaster with Adom FM in Accra, on Friday, May 4, at the NPP headquarters where she was assigned to report on the picking of party’s nomination forms. Obiri Boahene thinks his apology on behalf of Hajia Fati should  bring  finality to the matter because “to err is human” and everybody should  “forgive and forget and let’s move on”. Meanwhile, the NPP through its Acting General Secretary, John Boadu, has issued a statement condemning what it described as “an alleged attack on a journalist” while assuring journalists it respects and cherishes the media.
