The Senior Staff Association of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra is demanding the immediate resignation of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Gilbert Buckle for incompetence.

The Association has accused him of supervising the payment of judgement debt to the tune of over one hundred million cedis since 2013 arising mainly out of wrongful dismissal.

At  an emergency meeting in Accra Wednesday, about ninety percent of the members passed a vote of no confidence in Dr Buckle.
According to the Association, he has failed to restructure some of the departments at the hospital, leading to shortages of basic supplies that are needed for efficient healthcare delivery.

“You can see the lab is getting collapsed, there is nothing practically running at the pharmacy, when you come and you need agent services at night or midnight there is nothing around, at radiology some of the equipment have broken down, Charles Palm, President of the Association claimed.

He said the orthopedic theatre at the Accident Centre gets flooded whenever it rains, adding  “the issue is that what attempts have been made to solve it? We increased services by 300 per cent, what do we see, we don’t see any change”.

He blamed the chief directors of the hospital for superintending the misappropriation of funds at the facility, claiming that the auditor who is supposed to monitor processes and systems, rather pass payment vouchers with disclaimer, asking “is that the right thing?
