KMA gets over GHC66K to make Kumasi clean and green

An initiative by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to keep the city clean and green has received a boost with a donation of GHC66,950 to the Assembly. The donation by the National Investment Bank followed a request made by the KMA to the bank to support the initiative dubbed “Keep the City Clean and Green”. Head of Corporate Affairs of the bank, Mr Charles Wordey, who presented the cheque, said the donation is in line with the core objective of the bank in protecting the environment and the community they operate. “That is what motivated us to be here to support the initiative of the assembly to keep Kumasi clean and attractive,” he added. He said it was unfortunate that Kumasi, which used to be the Garden City of West Africa has lost its glory, one of the reasons, he said, pushed the bank to partner the assembly in restoring that status. Chief Executive of KMA, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi expressed gratitude to the bank for its kind gesture and called on other corporate entities to emulate to also support the initiative. He said the assembly has two flagship programmes that would need support to implement. Mr. Assibey Antwi said aside the sanitation project, there is a youth and sports development programme that seeks to revive sporting activities in the metropolis.
