Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency Nii Armah Ashietey has descended heavily on his critics – specifically some newspapers – whom he claims have made publications against his “personality and integrity”.

Mr Ashietey has lost his National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary ticket to Dr Zanetor Rawlings but his critics blame the numerous legal suits against the candidacy of the daughter of the party’s founder on him.

But in a statement issued on Wednesday, February 17, the former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations said: “These newspapers have no justification whatsoever to peddle malicious untruths about me just to bring me to public ridicule since I have maintained a very cordial relationship with the press’.

The newspapers he mentioned are The Inquisitor, Enquirer and The Al haji.

Mr Ashietey pointed them to the fact that he has achieved a lot in his professional career, before joining politics.

“I am very proud of my working life both outside and inside politics. Before politics, I was the general secretary of the Ghana Merchant Navy Officers’ Association (GMNOA), which is affiliated to the International Transport Workers Federation ITF in the United Kingdom.”
