The firm has produced valid documents from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Forestry Commission (FC) and other state institutions that sanctioned its mining in the forest reserve in a sustainable manner that does not tamper with the ecology.
Spokesperson for the mining company Murtala Mohamed, speaking on Akoma FM’s morning show GhanAkoma explained to host Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that “there has been speculations by section of the media that we are not a registered company and therefore our activities have been likened to ‘galamsey’ but that is not true because we have legal and valid licenses from all appropriate agencies that make our operations legal, besides we are a registered mining company that pays tax and all other royalties so we don’t know where these speculations are emanating from”.
He added that “Kingsperp Mining Company has since issued a communique to refute claims that we have illegally invaded the Oda River forest reserve so I will also want to use your platform to express our worry on such unfounded allegations which we deem unfortunate, hence the general public must treat those speculations with the needed contempt”.
Mr. Mutala further referred to the company’s press release which he read:
“Kingsperp is a legally registered mining company with all its documentation legally acquired from all state institutions in-charge to undertake.
“Gold mining Activities in Oda River Forest reserve near Aboaboso in Bekwai Forest District in the Ashanti Region and not Western Region as purported by some media houses.
- The Company has accordingly signed the “Mining Lease Agreement” with the Ministry of Lands and Forestry under Honorable Kweku Asuma Cheremeh.
- The company has also received entry permit from the Forestry Commission of Ghana as far back as 2019.
- The Forestry Commission has duly informed its regional division in the Ashanti Region of the said entry permit issued to Kingsperp Company Limited.
- The piece of Land stretched from Aboaboso to Taabosere in the Western Region and from Aborkyire Yawkrako near Numreso in the Amansie Central District and Edubea South Districts, all in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
“Mr. Charles Owusu is not a worker of Kingsperp. He is a worker at the Forestry Commission who was privy to all transactions, agreements, and permits granted our company.
“We are herewith informing the general public that, there is nothing illegal about the activities of Kingsperp Company Limited.”
