A statement from the police headquarters in Accra, Friday, declared the premises of the GFA as a crime scene. Tiger Eye PI, led by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, launched an undercover investigation into the dealings of the GFA and uncovered corrupt and underhand dealings, which have implicated top officials including the resigned GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi. Following the public screening of the investigative piece in Accra on June 6 and 7, the government took steps to dissolve the FA while investigations into the matter continue. READ: Government dissolves Ghana Football Association Consequently, a statement from the Ghana Police Service indicated, “The premises and offices of the GFA have been sealed off and remained inaccessible to staff of GFA and the public until further notice”. “Police will provide twenty-four hour security at the premises and entreat the public to cooperate with investigators,” the statement added. While assuring the public due process will be followed, the police are also “encouraging persons with verifiable information to volunteer it to Police through the Financial Forensics Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)”. Meanwhile, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is currently under investigation for defrauding by false pretense, has apologised to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice Presisdent Mahamudu Bawumia, Ministers and Deputy Ministers as well as his family, colleagues and friends for his “indiscretion” in the Anas video.
