The Minister of National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah, has filed a suit at an Accra High Court against #FixTheCountry Convenor Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor over the latter’s claims of being offered $1 million by the Minister to stop his activism.

He had told journalists on Friday, September 22, on the second day of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest, that while in the UK, the Minister called to invite him to Ghana at the expense of the tax payer and be given an appointment in an attempt to stop him from fanning anti-government sentiments.

“They went as far as offering us $1 million, they offered us a Committee Appointment, set up a Committee and appoint us to Government positions in order to stop this activism.

“This was made directly to me and other leaders of #FixTheCountry Movement.

“This conversation we had with the Minister of National Security, the Minister of Finance and a Brigadier General at a safe home,” Mr Barker-Vormawor said, insisting he cannot lie about such a thing.

In a writ of summons, lawyers of Mr Kan Dapaah find the words defamatory.

They are, therefore, requesting a sum of GH¢10 million in general damages including aggravated and/or exemplary damages for defamation for the words.

They want an apology and a retraction by Mr Barker-Vormawor.

They also want a perpetual injunction on the plaintiff from repeating similar words.
