Former Chair of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) Charlotte Osei has descended heavily on faceless persons spreading an artwork suggesting she will run for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat. The poster has made rounds on social media as interests are declared ahead of the bye-election, following the death of Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko. But taking to her official Instagram page, Ms Osei stated: “I have no interest whatsoever in running for parliament and have never had that interest”. The artwork finds her on a National Democratic Congress (NDC) poster. “I am not and have never been a registered member of any political party in Ghana or anywhere in the world. “I do not reside in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency and do not even qualify to run for office in that constituency.” Charlotte Osei was Chair of Ghana’s electoral management body for the 2016 elections, which saw incumbent John Dramani Mahama beaten by then opposition candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. She was, however, removed from office by Mr Akufo-Addo, who acted upon a petition submitted by some staff of the Commission.

Jean Mensa has since replaced Ms Osei as the Chair of the Commission. By Emmanuel Kwame Amoh|3news.com|Ghana ]]>
