The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and also the Rusia-Ukraine war on global economies is making all governments around the world unpopular, Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong has said.

“I can say that the whole world, governments are going through the same problems also because of the Russia-Ukraine war after Covid.

“I always say that if we are voting today in the whole world 80 percent of sitting governments will lose in the sense that the hardships all over the world, the citizens cannot bear it and therefore it is making every government unpopular,” the flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said on the Good evening Ghana programme on Tuesday January 31.

He further said that he can help the NPP break the 8-year electoral cycle if he is elected as flagbearer for the party ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Without him, he said, it will be tough for the party to do so.

He said “With me, NPP can break the 8, without me it will be tough,” he said.

He further indicated that former President John Dramani Mahama is not an alternative to lead Ghana again as President.

“Mahama is not the alternative. The man has been fortunate to succeed Atta Mills, he went for four years as president and we saw what happened.

“What is Mahama going to tell Ghanaians?”

He added “the fear of John Mahama coming to power is that he has not proven himself to be a good leader. Giving him another opportunity…he needs only one term, four years, even when he knew if he managed the economy well, he would have another opportunity he could not do it. Now that he will have one term only God knows what could happen.”

“The alternative is not good for Ghana.”
