Deputy Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has vehemently denied media reports that suggested he has been forced by the raging challenges with the ongoing self placement module for persons seeking to enter Senior High School. Problems associated with the computerised school selection and placement system caused thousands of desperate prospective SHS students from across the country and their parents to throng the Independence Square in Accra Monday anticipating to have their issues resolved. There were rumours that the deputy minister who is well-versed in the management of the system, has been sidelined in the placement exercise this year, with claims his login credentials were revoked. According to the report, the presence of Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum is currently needed to address the challenges. But the Deputy Minister says the report is false, indicating that there are capable people already on the ground attending to the issues. “There may have been challenges but these issues happen with technology and the team would resolve the issues.” Find his rejoinder below My attention has been drawn to a publication in several media outlets that I am away in the United States of America and that I am cutting my trip short to come solve the SHS placement crises. The said publication is fabricated and not coming from me. I am currently in Oxford in the United Kingdom as the keynote speaker of UKFIET. I am done with my address and will be heading back to Accra. As the deputy Minister, I work under the direction of the Minister and I have every confidence in the team that is managing placement. There may have been challenges but these issues happen with technology and the team would resolve the issues. I am committed to helping my Minister to fulfill the mandate of President Akufo-Addo of ensuring free and accessible secondary education to every Ghanaian child. Signed Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum (MP; Dep. Min. of Education in charge of Gen. Education) Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
