A Koforidua-based High Court judge has issued a stern warning to the general public to stay away from her with their bribes and gifts. Justice Gifty Dekyem was emphatic that she would not allow herself to be compromised in order to pervert the course of justice. “I do not accept bribes and gifts. Do not give them out,” the High Court judge posted on the court’s notice board situated in the Eastern regional capital, Koforidua. Justice Gifty Dekyem maintained her resolve to stay clean of any corrupt act, insisting that her judgement would not be influenced by actions or inactions outside the courtroom. She therefore reminded potential bribe givers not to even think of using a third party to get to her. “You do not need to ‘see me’ to get justice. Do not approach me directly or indirectly in that regard,” she warned. Justice Gifty Dekyem is perhaps taking a cue from the 2015 corruption scandal that rocked the judiciary. An investigative work by ace journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in that year captured on camera, over 30 magistrates and circuit court judges accepting bribes which led to travesty of justice. Over 20 of them were given summary dismissal following the recommendation of a committee constituted by the then Chief Justice. 3news.com however gathered that the high court judge may be directing the notice to a party in a case she is handling as she strenuously try to avoid overtures from them.
