This follows more that 20 years of battle in and out of court to secure the property. However, some squatters claim they were not given any notice but the company denies this.
The Ghana Water Company Limited has four blocks of twelve flats each at Kanda for their staff.
The property was acquired from then State Housing Corporation. The property is dotted with unauthorized structures used as stores and accommodation.
The squatters took the property owners to court to save them from ejection.
But the Civil Division of the Supreme Court ruled in favour of the water company , paving way for the demolition.
According to an official of the Ghana Water Company, there are over 100 squatters on the property.
Some former employees of the Ghana Water Company Limited also rent out some of the flats to the squatters.
Friday morning’s demolition was supervised by some police officers as residents looked on helplessly whiles others salvaged their belongings.
One resident claimed he had permit from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly for his structure in which he had lived and worked for nearly twenty years.
The water company had struggled for nearly 20 years to get the squatters from the Kanda property, close to the Flagstaff House.
