For the first time since 2016, Accra Hearts of Oak are at the pinnacle of the Ghana Premier League log tied on the same points with their bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko with just goals separating the two sides on the table.

The table is gradually taking shape as match week 27 kick starts today with season defining games in the mix for every club who wants to clinch the trophy.

Today in Anyinase, fifth-placed team, Karela United will host fourth-placed team Accra Great Olympics. Only a point separates the two sides as both clubs will like to grab all three points to push pressure on the teams on top of them. The home team have not lost their last five games in the league (W2 D3) having improved their away record. Olympics on the other hand have not been on a rosy journey in their last five games though they have picked up nine points. (W3, L2)

On Saturday, Asante Kotoko who are second on the league log will travel up the country to lock horns with Aduana Stars in Dormaa. The “Ogya Boys” will hope to maintain their record against the Porcupines in Dormaa. Since Aduana Stars joined the Ghana Premier League, Asante Kotoko have never beaten them at Dormaa. Though inconsistent, Aduana will give their all as they sit eighth on the league log. Asante Kotoko on the other hand will hope to overtake their rivals Hearts and thus a must win game for them. Mouth watering.

The battle in the relegation zone is already heated with teams making use of their best weapons available. This time around, it is the battle between the land lords and tenets in Techiman. King Faisal who moved out of the relegation last week after two straight wins will like to beat their land lords Techiman Eleven Wonders got into the red zone after losing their last two games. King Faisal have 29 points while Eleven Wonders have 27 points.

On Sunday night, league leaders Hearts of Oak welcome Berekum Chelsea to the Accra Sports Stadium. Hearts of Oak have won their last four games in the league and have not conceded in those games. With coach Samuel Boadu looking like finding solutions to winning games, the Phobians will hope to maintain the top spot for the second week running. Berekum Chelseas on the other hand, have won only just a game in their last five games. They sit 12th on the league log with 31 points.
