Founder of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has called on government to be smart in the face of economic difficulty.

He has, therefore, advised government to follow the habits of smart business people.

President John Dramani Mahama on 2015 May Day noted that smart businesses are not laying off their employees in the face of the power crisis, an assertion that engendered criticism from many quarters.

On his official Facebook page on Sunday, June 14, Dr Nduom – a renowned businessman – asked government to also play smart by withdrawing some projects, for instance.

“Most important, government must take a single-minded approach to supporting Ghanaian businesses with tax incentives, low cost money and the state’s purchasing power,” he suggested.

“When Ghanaian businesses become big, profitable, they will employ more people, pay more tax to fund social infrastructure and bring the excitement needed to generate greater prosperity for the people.”

He condemned the distribution of national resources on partisan lines, observing that: “In many homes in Ghana you will find a combination of PPP, NDC, NPP, PNC, CPP, etc.

“Money does not wear political colours.”
