Government has discredited the rating of it’s overall performance with a mark of 47% by policy Think-Thank, IMANI Ghana.
Government in a statement released on Wednesday in response to the report, however said it welcomes the IMANI Ghana assessment report on its performance, but believes the approach and methodology are “flawed.”
The policy think-tank gave the incumbent National Democratic Congress 47% as its overall performance since 2012.
IMANI Ghana says the score is a “satisfactory” performance.
IMANI scrutinized the over 542 NDC promises on education, energy, economy and others which it said formed the basis for the party’s retention in government.
The government scored 36.4% under economy after a “satisfactory score in the promises at the cocoa sector, promises under the rural enterprise programme” among others.
The report rated government as having scored 43.30% in governance and 36.4% under economy, with 51.36 per cent for Infrastructure and 65.7% for education.
But in response, the Deputy Minister of Communication Felix Kwakye Ofosu said: “It is obvious from the presentation that there was inadequate engagement between IMANI and Government agencies such as to allow for them to access all the information and data required to do a comprehensive and thorough assessment of progress on our manifesto commitments.”
Among others he said for instance that 123 of the community day senior high schools were under construction and not 100 as IMANI claimed.
IMANI Ghana’s full report is expected to be released on Thursday, July 30.

RE: ASSESSMENT OF MANIFESTO DELIVERY BY IMANI GHANA
Government has learned about a presentation made earlier today by IMANI Centre for Policy and Education on the progress made in delivering on the 2012 manifesto of the National Democratic Congress.
As a general principle we welcome any effort that enables Ghanaians to scrutinize the discharge of the mandate that they bestowed on us in the 2012 elections. This is in tandem with the fourth pillar of our 2012 manifesto; “Transparent and Accountable Governance”.
That said, we wish to point out that an examination of IMANI’s presentation reveals deep flaws in the approach, methodology and ultimately the outcome. It is obvious from the presentation that there was inadequate engagement between IMANI and Government agencies such as to allow for them to access all the information and data required to do a comprehensive and thorough assessment of progress on our manifesto commitments.
They appear to have relied on only a fraction of information on what we have done in fulfilment of our manifesto promises. The results as put out by IMANI therefore tell only a minute part of the story.
We stand ready for a holistic and comprehensive scrutiny of our work as government and encourage all organizations seeking to do so to avail themselves of all relevant information to ensure balance and accuracy in their results.
