Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong has said the government advised the Ghanaian students to seek shelter in designated bunkers

Pictures and videos from Ukraine indicated Ghanaian students still stuck in bunker as part of move to ensure their safety.

But speaking on the News 360 on TV3 Thursday March 3, Mr Apratwum Sarpong said “In a war situation like this the first thing to do is to advise your citizens to seek shelter and safety. So the advise to students and the Ghanaians over there was to seek shelter in designated bunkers.”

In an earlier tweet, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration said “The Government of Ghana is gravely concerned about the security and safety of our over 1000 students and other Ghanaians in Ukraine and has asked them to shelter in place in their homes or in government places of shelter, as we engage the authorities, our relevant diplomatic missions and our honorary consul on further measures.”
