Ghana's Covid-19 case count hits 313 with 6 deaths

Twenty-six more cases of the deadly coronavirus have been confirmed by Ghana. The latest cases came from the enhanced contact tracing and testing being carried out across the nation by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). One more person has died from the disease, unfortunately, bringing the total number of deaths to six. Government began an expanded approach of tracing all the contacts of all patients admitted in the first few weeks of the outbreak. Persons who had travelled into the country from Tuesday, March 3 were also traced to be tested while those who came through the country’s borders from Sunday, March 22 were put under mandatory quarantine. About 19,276 persons have been traced as of Sunday, April 5. Tests conducted on 7,461 of them, had 14 coming out positive. As of Wednesday, April 8, 11,016 tests had been conducted with 37 proving positive. With the recently confirmed cases, 18 were in the Greater Accra Region while 8 were in the Ashanti Region. Fortunately, all the cases detected from enhanced contact tracing are responding well to treatment. Ghana recorded her first cases of the virus on Thursday, March 12.
