Vice President of Imani Africa Mr Kofi Bentil has said that Ghana is a two-party state.
In his view, apart from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) there is no other credible party.
Until a credible one comes, he added, the country will continue to be dominated by the two leading parties.
“Ghana is a 2 party state. Of course, we need a 3rd but till a credible one comes up, we are stuck with these 2! One of them will rule us. Deal with that,” Mr Bentil who is also a private legal practitioner wrote on Facebook while reacting to the Kumawu by-election that took place on Tuesday, May 23.
The NPP’s Ernest Yaw Anim won the election after he polled 15,264 votes to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Kwesi Amankwah, and the two other Independent Candidates.
Kwesi Amankwah managed 3,723 votes while Kwaku Duah (1) had 2,478 votes with the other Kwaku Duah had 62 votes.
Mr Bentil said that although the NPP won, they still have a major hurdle ahead of them to cross.
“NPPs Kumawu win was emphatic and resounding! Period! But a Mole Hill is not a mountain!! You have a mountain ahead. Mole hill experience is not exactly transferable to mountain challenges.”
