WUKU in collaboration with Ghana Council, Belgium and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and National Commission on Culture has officially launched the Ghana Culture Fest in Accra.
The initiative is supported by Ancestral Foundation and Xperiance Africa Ghana Ltd. This festival has Onua TV and FM (Media General) as one of their main media partners.
This is an annual cultural festival to be held in Europe and other parts of the world and it aims at promoting the culture of Ghana by educating and informing the upcoming generations living in Europe especially Belgium about the Ghanaian norms, customs and traditions which are evidently lost in today’s modern society.
The founders, Kwaku Agyekum Sikahene and Ama Wusuwaah, addressing the media indicated that the maiden edition will be held in Belgium on Saturday, October 1.
They revealed that the event has come to stay and anticipate it will receive the needed support to help showcase and propagate Ghana’s rich culture and traditions to the international communities.
President of Ghana Council, Belgium, Mr Kwaku Boamah Acheampong in the same vein stated that the event is primarily intended to foster Ghana’s civic pride, promote awareness of Ghana’s heritage and build diplomatic relations with the international communities.
The event he said also intends to construct workshops where the Ghanaian community in Belgium and Europe will have the opportunity to learn about Ghanaian culture and traditions.
Executive Director for National Commission on Culture Madam Janet Edna Nyame on the other hand urged the youth especially those in the diaspora to embrace the initiative in enhancing their knowledge of Ghanaian culture.
She encouraged the youth to also use the event as a platform to foster Ghana’s civic pride, promote awareness of Ghana’s heritage and build diplomatic relations with the international communities.
