An Accra Circuit court has sentenced Dr. Ali Gabass, the doctor accused of sodomising a 16 year old boy, to 25 years in prison.

He was charged on the count of defilement but the second charge of having ‘unnatural canal knowledge‘ was dismissed for which he was acquitted and discharged.

Proceedings in court indicated that the boy in question was below the age of 18 for which reason the case of ‘defilement’ was upheld. The doctor based in Takoradi drew all the spotlight to himself after confessing that he had had some ‘sexual engagement’ with a 16 year old male student.

He was arrested and has been standing trial since late 2014. The final verdict on the case was given on July 13, 2015 following a delay in the filing of address of the lawyers of the accused.

He was alleged to have in the months of October 2013 and April 2014 at Kasoa and Alajo respectively, had unnatural carnal knowledge of the victim aged 16.

According to the police, during the month of October 2013, Dr. Gabass arranged and met the victim at Kasoa New Market area where he forcibly had anal sex with the victim in his car in front of the Kasoa HFC Bank.

The victim suffered serious injuries to his anal region and had to take an operation to fix it. He has also contracted the deadly HIV disease, but Dr Ali- Gabass has denied infecting him with the disease.

He has produced a medical report in court that suggested he was negative.
