Future Global Resources Prestea-Bogoso Mine has presented several items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to the office of the Prestea-Huni Valley Municipal Chief Imam Alhaji Issah Abdellah.
The items which include bags of rice, boxes of cooking oil as well as packs of soft drinks is to help the Muslim community end their spiritual month of fasting and prayer more refreshed.
Communities expected to benefit from the gesture include Prestea, Beppoh, Eshyireso, Dumasi, Blakwaline, Adamaso, Bogoso and Bondaye.
Presenting the items to the Municipal Chief Imam Alhaji Issah Abdellah, General Manager of Future Global Resources Prestea-Bogoso Mine Fred Ofosu Tenkorang explained that the donation is in keeping with an age-long tradition of extending a supporting hand to the Muslim community during their spiritual month of fasting and prayers.
“This donation during this time has become a marked activity on the company’s calendar for a while now. Our Muslim brothers and sisters fast and pray this month. During this period, energies get sapped. So, these items are to help our brothers and sisters to get back their lost energies.”
According to Mr. Ofosu Tenkorang, “even though there has been a change in management, this gesture will continue because that is the mark of a responsible corporate citizen”.
“The company is going through a challenging phase. While we work assiduously to restore things, we will also need diving intervention. And we want our brothers and sisters to also remember us anytime they pray.”
Receiving the items on behalf of the Prestea-Huni Valley Chief Imam, Publicist Suleman Kin applauded the mining company for duly recognising the Office of the Municipal Chief Imam.
“It is gratifying that the company decided to bring the items to the Chief Imam for onward distribution. That demonstrates that you respect the social protocol. We also do know that the company is stressed now. But we will continue to pray, which we do every Friday for the company. We do so because we have no doubts in our minds that when the company becomes successful it will inure to the benefit of its host communities and the entire municipality.”
